Shravanabelagola-Beluru-Halebidu-Bangalore

One day Trip to Shravanabelagola - Beluru - Halebidu from Bangalore

After so much longings about a trip; my gang and me decided to travel to Hasan district of Karnataka which is famous for its best architecture created by Hoyasala Dine sty.Our first reach out is Shravanabelagola from Koramangala (Bangalore), we were five started at 5 AM in the morning by Qualis on the way at Hennur picked up another friend so total we were six.

The way route we have choosen was
Bangalore --> Nelamangala --> Kunigal --> Hirisave --> Shravanabelagola --> Halibedu --> Beluru
Start from Bangalore take Tumkur Road NH 4 towards Yeshwantpur 30 km on NH-4 reach Nelamangala and Travel 44 KM to hit NH-48 and take left at Neelamangala
Reach Kunigal and from there 52 km continue on NH 48 to reach Hirisave continue 16 km and Turn Left from Hirisave that connects to Shravanabelagola, from here every thing is easy to reach Halibedu and Beluru.
We traveled around 580 KM in this whole trip.

Shravanabelagola - Wiki
Finally we reached top of the hill where we can see huge (57 Feet)Bahu bali / Gomateswara idol. As it was one of the best pilgrimage center for Jains; we found so many Jain's and foreign tourists as well. I was surprised to see the tourists actively climbing the hill with out any fagged feeling. Got to know that this huge idol was build by king "Chamundaraya".
Gomateswara monolithic idol

The word Shravanbelagola means "The white pond of the Shravana" -as the name suggest there is nice pond we can see from the top of the hill, nice scenic view from the top of the hill. Just beside this hill we can see another hill called Chandragiri(Chikka betta) which has many memorials to other Jain monks. It is believed that emperor "Chadragupta Mourya" meditated on this hill. By the way there were Palanquin facilities from the down of the hill to reach up of the hill, around 400 INR were charged for this.
On the way to the top of Bahubali hill ...
There were so many inscriptions on the way to Bahubali, most of them were written on old kannada and Marathi. I was telling my friends there should be a wonderful language compiler for all the indian old and new languages which will convert from any to any; dreaming that at least our next generations will decode the photos we have taken for all those inscriptions to understand the history. There were many theerthankaras idols placed behind the Baahubali idol.

For every 12 years there will be "MahaMastakabhishekam" performed for this huge idol; in which they will perform abhishekam with ghee, milk, gold coins and saffron. It is a spectacular ceremony. the next will be in the year 2018. We skipped to visit the chandragiri to visit other places in plan.

Coconut water is my all time relaxing technique which again I applied after getting down from the hill and quickly started Off to Halebidu which is 78 km from Shravanabelagola. On the way we stopped for Lunch in Hasan town. Food was average though we have choosen the best hotel in the town and in the heavey rain itself we started to Halebedu to save the time.

Halebedu wiki

By the time we reached Halebedu, climate was good and entered the uncompleted, Hoyasaleswara temple constructed by Hoyasala dinesty kings ...Halebedu which was previously called Dorasamudra or Dwarasamudra) was the regal capital of the Hoysala Empire in the 12th century. Surprising thing to know was the word "Halebedu" means ruined city. Guide was many times telling that it was invaded by Bahamani sultan and other Muslim kings who ruled the near by places. But how come they would have thought of invading this much great sculptures.

One of the best sculptures @ Halebedu
In this place there were two uncompleted Hoysaleshawara and Kedareshwara temples  and before them two big bulls (Nandi's) and also one big lake called as Dwara samudhra which means entrance from ocean by which the name of the village too. The two big monolithic Nandi's and many sculptures in the temple were made of soap stone or Chloritic Schis. One will definitely gets amazed while seeing the beauty and understand the view of artists who carved these sculptures. There are beautiful and numerous sculptures surrounding the temple as well as inside the temple. I can't express the fineness of these sculptures one has to see and feel it. There is one archeological museum inside the temple premises which has few invaded stones and uncompleted sculptures.
@ Halebedu temple ..Whole group
Belur wiki
We reached Beluru around at 4:30 PM; it is just 16 KMs from Halibedu. The temple here was Chenna Kesawa swamy (Good looking Vishnu in meaning). Unfortunately the temple was closed for that day. Unlike Halibedu, Beluru temples were 100 % completed. Even Sri krishna devaraya has done some renovations to this temple during his kingdom.

King Vishnuvardana and his qween Shantala devi who has paid attention and developed these two places. As like all the temples there was pushkarani in this temple complex as well. The surprising stuff is that, there was one prototype temple in the same complex which we can see for the original temple. The star base for both prototye and main temple was really powerful. The sculpture and temple architecture is simply superb. I don't think modern artists can build this kind of fine artistic monuments just with hands. The temple is one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture, there is no doubt for this.
at Belur Temple ..
Belur and Halebedu architecture reminded me my trip to Somanathapur , because the architecture is same in these three temples, the fine ness and techniques in carving these sculputures are same they look almost same but different in views of different artists. The imagination and views of the artists who carved all these sculptures are from our Puranas, Itihaasas, technology, culture, Habits, Intersts to Kamasutras.

One line to say about these two places is "Belur - Halibedu are pride to India in terms of its culture and its standards". I never imagined 2D and 3D views in the sculptures till I see this place. Hats-off to the creativity of architects and artists involved in this great fine monuments and sculptures in this temple.

Finally we started our retrun journey to Bangalore around at  7 PM and everybody took rest and reached our places almost by mid-night.
It was a good trip after long time for all of us....looking for some thing different this time .. Let's wait and see...
At Belur temple ..

Big Banyan Tree,Srirangapatnam,Balmuri-Edmuri Falls,Chamundi Hills,St. Philomena's Church, KRS dam,Vrindavan Gardens,Mysore Palace

Trip to Mysore
(Big Banyan Tree,Srirangapatnam,Balmuri-Edmuri Falls,Chamundi Hills,,St. Philomena's Church, KRS dam,Vrindavan Gardens,Mysore Palace)

This was an unplanned trip for me, it is just to accompany my close friends. I was requested to join with them to fill the vacant seat in the cab. With this my visit to Mysore become fourth time. Still I feel worth exploring. Mysore(Garden city) is really place for travelers due to is unique history and rich heritage. Actually my friends intention is to visit Sri Chamundeshwari Temple primarily, but I added many to it, hope they enjoyed the trip. Of course I enjoyed undoubtedly because I just want to travel all the time.

The plan was to start by Indica cab (as we are just 4 members)by 5:30 AM, as usual and quite expected for me it started only at 6:50 AM due to drivers late arrival to our place. Usually it happens with one of our mates but this time the culprit was Cab driver, can't even scold him. Most of the journeys I did were very successful primarily due to the best planing and secondary due to best execution. Best execution role should be done primarily by cab driver and by the people in the trip. This time driver is not up to my expectations, I tried my best to motivate driver by speaking in Kannada also. He so reserved and also stubborn... What to say ?? Any way our journey started.
The very first place we reached according to plan was Big Banyan Tree,This is a 500 yrs old Banyan tree.A mere 25 kms from the Bangalore City.you can reach the spot either from Kumbalgod on Mysore Road or from Chennenahalli on Magadi Road. This is the fourth largest banyan tree in India.
It is in a village called Ramohalli about 6-7 km on the road that links Mysore Road with Magadi Road. This road is on the right about 5 km from Kengeri next to Rajarajeshwari Dental College.Take the road to the right at Kumbalagod junction on Mysore road. Further 7 Kms on this narrow road leads you to the Banyan Tree. But this place is not up to my imagination, we took some snaps and moved ahead. people started shouting for a sojourn for break-fast but I kiboshed them till we reach  Bididi village.
Finally we reached Kamat(new) hotel near Bididi and had break-fast. There we saw Javagal Srinath, former Indian cricketer. I think he was on a family trip. We took his autographs and took some snaps.
He was quite simple and normal, it happened to speak with him in our regional language Telugu too when he called one of our mates in Telugu. With this happy movement, trip made me more happy and we moved to wards Srirangapatnam via Ramnagaram and Channapattana.

Ramnagaram-This rocky land is an important silk cocoon-marketing center, 49 kms from Bangalore. The popular Hindi movie Sholay was shot here. Channapattana-Famous for its wooden toys and silks. It is located at 58 kms on the way to Mysore.we did not stop in these villages but still felt the speciality of these villages. Quickly we reached Srirangapatnam in less than an hour.

Srirangapatnam - around 123 Kms. from Bangalore on Mysore road.Town made famous by legendary warrior Tipu Sultan. We have seen Dariya Daulat Bagh and museum at Tippus summer palace. This garden was good looking than in my previous visit, may be due to more flowers. In this museum we can many paintings, swords, rifles, coins, medals and some of the Tippus clothes and utensils. Most of these paintings were narrating the battles done by Tippu sultan and most of them are collected from the magazines published in abroad countries. After having some photo shoot we moved towards Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple, on the way we can still the see the fort and its traces. Sri ranganath temple is simply superb, here we can see god in the posture of sleeping on a snake.
Then our next stop is at Balmuri - Edmuri Falls, which just 15 KMs from Srirangapatnam. Balmuri falls is the famous of the two and many Indian movies have used this location to shoot song and dance sequences. These waterfalls are not actually waterfalls technically. Balmuri Falls is the primary attraction at the Ranganthittu Sanctuary.Hit the Bangalore-Mysore highway till you reach the bridge at Srirangapattanam. You"ll soon find directions to the bird sanctuary. Follow it until you reach the clean and speck sanctuary that can entice any being at a sight. We are disappointed at this falls because there is no water in the store and hence there is no falls. So we did not spend more 30 mins here quickly proceeded to Mysore city.

The first stop in mysore was at Sri Chamundeshwari Temple(Located on the Chamundi hills which is around 13 KM from city), we reached there at 2:30 PM though we know the temple timigs as below
Chamundeshwari Temple timings:+91-821-259-0027
7.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
So we had lunch on the hill top itself and waited till 3:30 till the temple opens. We had quick and special darshan. The Chamundi maata here is made of gold and looking very delighting.
There is a huge granite Nandi on the 800th step on the hill in front of a small Shiva temple a short distance away. This Nandi is over 15 feet high, and 24 feet long and around its neck are exquisite bells.
The next stop was at The Mysore Palace - it is open to visitors from 6 am to 9 am and from 3.30 PM to 6.30 PM every day. It was almost like Museum, there we can see many photographs and paintings of the kings and their family. But still palace is worth by its royal and elegant look, we can just imagine how the king used to live. It took more than 40 mins to visit the whole palace and there was enough crowd due to some schools visit. I know that Palace will be Illuminated bu electric lights on Sundays, National holidays and on festivals(Timings : 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m). I have seen the palace with lights twice before but my Friends missed it, as it was Saturday that day. Rite time to visit Mysore palace is during Dasara festival season. so I suggest everybody to visit this place during festival season.
Then we proceeded to St Philomena’s Church - Located about 3 kms from the city center is the imposing St. Philomena's church, a miniature replica of the Cologne cathedral in Italy. Built in the early 1930’s in the Gothic style, it is the tallest cathedral in India. Colorful stained glass panels depict the birth, the last supper, the Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus Christ. Light filtering in through these panels imparts an ethereal ambiance to the inside of the church. The catacomb houses the statue and relics of the 3rd century saint Philomena. Twin spires rise up about 175 mts to the skies and can be seen for miles around. Visiting hours are from 8 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Don’t miss to see the illuminated church in the evenings.

Now almost everybody are slightly tired due to heavy heat and sun. Our last spot of the trip was Vrindavan Gardens and K R SDam(Krishna Raja Sagar dam). We reached there around at 6:50 PM, there was a huge crowd at entrance due to small entrance. The main garden entrance was under renovation. We paid for entrance tickets and we moved to wards our right of the garden as almost everybody are running in that route. I expected that people are running to see musical fountain which used to run during that time. We also blindly reached that place, as expected it was musical fountain.
But none of us are interested to see that, as we have seen such fountains many times in many places.
Then we quickly returned back and moved to wards left of the Garden, that side is really worth watching. it has many beautiful and big fountains. We can just recollect many of the old famous movies songs which were shot here.

Ahh finally we concluded the trip and started return journey, we had some tifins at one of the hotels near mandya and reached Bangalore around at 12 PM.
P.S : Once I again I would like to thank my friends who initiated and invited me to this trip...

Trip to GOA..go go GOAAAA......

Go go GOAAAAAAA......
This trip satisfied the yearning of my soul and there is no limit for the joy we had in Goa. The most coveted place to rock for many of the youth. As like every trip this is another most awaiting trip for us, (We all are very busy for making artificial intelligence :( to lead natural life.) As planned earlier we started on 23rd Dec 2009 by train(6589/Rani Chenamma) from Bangalore to reach Londa. As expected train started bit late around at 9:20 PM. Actually to be there at 24th mid night we started on 23 rd night from Bangalore, to really sense the unbounded joy of Merry Christmas.

By morning 7 AM we reached Londa station which is a very rural village with the mixed culture of Karnataka and Maharashtra. We were sleeping completely so not knowing the station in between from Bangalore to Londa. There is poor transportation from Londa to Goa which is around 120 KMs far. After so much waiting we decided to take one cab,by paying around 1200 Rupees. We are five people by joining with another 5 more people we started our journey to-wards Goa. The people joined with us are very familiar to Goa, as they said it was 32nd visit to Goa. So they shared their tips to follow in Goa like where to stay? what to see ? etc etc. It was good time with those people. On the way we had breakfast at one village and proceeded to Goa. Around at 11 we reached Mapusa. One of my friend's friend Mario has gave shelter there in his flat to stay for 4 days. Really a big thanks to Mario other wise we would have end up in paying more than 3K per day in Goa hotels.

After quick fresh-up we went to Mapusa which is famous for its market, it was considerably big one and it has every thing starting from apples to alcohols. This market has many whole-sale shops including liquors. The liquor prices are almost 40 % less compared to other states in India. Glasses, caps and eatables are main things in our shopping then moved to Calangute Beach. The lovely Calangute beach, also known as the 'Queen of Beaches' is simply super.International tourists visit this beach in hordes.I am sure this beach is crowded with both international and domestic tourists in any day during seasons. Here only we spent most of our evenings playing in beach and enjoying water sports. We played different rides like bumper ride, banana ride , para sailing etc. Among all Banana ride became thrilling one as one of us made it fall in between the ride, that was my first experience wearing life jacket and floating in the sea that to un-expectedly falling in between the ride ...ohhh it is damn good not enough to say simply with words.

I might have seen many beaches in the world but the joy and liveliness displayed by everything around you in Calangute beach cannot be found anywhere else.
Though it is sun you will definitely feel the fun in the sparkling sand and splashing beach tides. This is the real holiday for me as this is first time I felt in my life that a beach can also be a bustling place when you are with your friends in that place. It will be the perfect celebration with gusto in your holiday if you are in Goa.
For someone who would like to relax in a quiet and secluded beach, there are some beaches like the Betul beach, the Palolem beach or even the Bambolim beach. So no matter what, Goa has something for everyone to enjoy and remember for a lifetime.

After a gusto play in water we spent time in eating and drinking under a beach umbrella and bed, parllely we played snookers in the moon light on the bays of beach. I never imagined of playing pool in the beach side. It was really splendid and memorable game. All the beaches are really the prefect gateways for a tired travelers. The hours passed like seconds we are on dance floor continuously rocking to sync with shacking asses on the floor. It was 12 PM ..."Merry Christmas" cheers ...snuggles,cuddles Hugs ...Sky is not dark that time it was illuminating with all the best possible colors in the world. It went on for almost till 3 AM there is no limit and bounds...
This is a new place may be a heaven for us for few hours we are the kings and emperors served by many angels. This heaven has streets filled with gorgeous women.... OMG you made this nature the striking one by just creating beautiful women.

These are the beaches with palm trees I saw for the first in my life, with crowded people who are only searching for merry in the sparkling sands. It is just one hour to see aurora, we reached our flat and went to bed around at 5:45 AM. All of us missed our mobile alarms to execute next day plans not once but more than thrice. At last we finished the daily routines and reached again Calangute via Mapusa to grab "pilots"(two wheeler motor cycles). We payed around 400 bucks for one day rent of each bike(Honda Activa). We quickly moved to Anjuna Beach after having lunch at Star light restaurant near the beach. The Anjuna Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Goa. Also known as the 'freak capital' of the world, this beach was the favorite haunt of the hippies or the 'flower generation' in the sixties. Its popularity has still not waned going by the thousands of people who visit it everyday. However the main attractions of this beach apart from its picturesque settings are its full moon parties that go on through the whole night and the weekly flea market where you can pick up everything from clothes to old bikes. In fact if you are good at bargaining, you can walk away with some very great deals.

Then we just want to have the same feel what yesterday we had hence we moved to Calangute beach from Baga beach, basically it is an extension of the Calangute beach; and tried repeating what ever we have done the other day but the dance floors were stopped bit early this day and with no other options in hand we started returning to Mapusa from Baaga. We were just staring at all the crowd and their postures simply sitting near Tito's beach, on our work we found a beautiful lady we were recollecting the beauty she resembles some thing like Charmi Telugu film actress, with in no second we noticed a guy who seems to be Devi sri prasad, famous music director in south film industry, in no time we confirmed our eyes and mind and rushed to wards them, they were little shocked by our eagerness to meet them. They felt little embracing as there is already a big talk in the industry about their friendship. Ultimately with devis request we had only a snap with him but not with Charmi. By the way Devi's younger brother Vidya Sagar (singer and Mandolin player) is also present along with them.No doubt this is the best night life and party time I had till in my life.

The next day reminded us that our trip is coming to an end and we were in tremble mood and started our bike riding to cover the rest of best spots in the Goa, after having the breakfast in Ashoka Udipi hotel near Mapusa market we moved to wards Aguada. The Aguada beach,(also called sinquerim) located on the Aguada Bay in North Goa is one of the most beautiful beaches in Goa. Taj spa is just beside this beach. The imposing Aguada Fort is located near the beach with its fortifications almost kissing the seashore. A part of it has now been converted into a prison while a luxurious beach resort has come up on the remnants of this old fort. Most of know the famous song from Maniratnam's "Bombay"  movie "Urike chilaka...in Telugu" was shot here it self. After some time seeing dolphins here we moved further to visit Aguada fort.A spring within the fort provided water supply to the ships that called there, giving it the name "Aguada" (meaning 'water' in Portuguese). On the northern side, it provides a harbour for local shipping. The fort, at present, houses the central jail. A 19th century built lighthouse is situated inside the fortress.

Then moved toward panji to visit Miramar Beach, on the way we got a chance visit the beautiful roads of this panji city which are not only ultra posh but also cool and clean.Miramar Beach is situated 1 kilometer ahead of the confluence of Mandovi River and the Arabian Sea. It is situated on the way to wards Dona Paula, about 3 kilometers from Panjim, the capital city of Goa. Miramar Beach of Goa is also known as 'Gasper Dias'; but don't the reasons ...The Miramar Beach in Goa begins at the gulf and then culminates in the Emerald Coast Parkway. It is a golden beach fringed with palm trees. The soft sands of the beach makes it the best site for evening walks. Moreover, 'miramar' in Portuguese implies 'viewing the sea'. Tourists can get a glimpse of the majesty of the Arabian Sea from the Miramar Beach at Goa. There are many costly hotels to put up for the international tourists coming to Goa near this beach.

From miramar we moved to Dona Paula beach which is just less than 5 KM from there. The name "Dona Paula"  is reportedly  derived from the name of  the daughter of  one of Goa's Portuguese Viceroys,  who threw herself off the cliff  after she was refused permission to marry a local fisherman with whom she fell in love.By the ferry jetty, there is a whitewashed statue  sculpted by Baroness Von Leister; aptly named "Image of India". It depicts a couple both facing opposite directions, the man to wards the nations past and the woman to wards the future. For more info refer this link.

By this time my friends are too hungry and everybody are eagerly waiting to have lunch, spent too much time ot find a fine restaurant and finally did that in "Deewar" and then spent some time in window shopping latter on we went to River cruise in SANTA MONICA. This is the best cruise with family but due to nice music and show we also enjoyed a lot on river mandovi. Only thing is , it is too crowded. Its a one hour trip that costs Rs 150 per person. Cultural entertainment programme include troupes performing the Dekni Temple Dance, the Fugdi Dance and the Corredinho Dance (Portuguese peasant dance). A bit of sightseeing during the cruise is also on offer and you come across Reis Magos Church the Reis Magos Fort, the Aguada Fort and the Cabo Raj Bhavan to name a few.

We were totally jaded that day due to too heavy travel and heavy walk, but we have already booked tickets for 3-idiots movie in Panji - inox 10:15 PM show. Unfortunately the show was delayed for around 25 mins, though it got delayed and we are too tired we are really happy after seeing such a good movie. After a cold breeze drive we reached our flat in Mupsa from panji around at 3 AM in the night.

The next started very quickly due to early wake up, we have agreement with bike shop owner to return the bikes by 10 AM in the morning and we were able to do it exactly and sharply by that time. On the way most of us did some gifts shopping for their loved ones. So that is our departure day from Goa, its was really painful after sucah wonderful time there we got to depart from that place, we started from Calangute to VASCO DA GAMA by cab. Then after having lunch in Vasco da gama we moved to railway station and started our return journey by Train(02779/VSG SBC LINK EXP). When we saw our reservation status it was just RAC, all of us were down due too much body pains and tiredness but by god grace we got berths quickly in less than 2 hrs after start of that journey.

wait wait ..don't close the browser the fun is not over; there is some thing still left ... I strongly suggest any body to travel at least once in between Vasco da gama and Bangalore due to its best scenic views. Forest with deep valley, waterfalls, completely with lushly trees and tunnels ....oh my god you are the creator of beauty. Especially when we see the train after crossing the tunnel ...it was like an amazing feel ...Hope you will definitely squeeze some time from your routine life and plan your holidays in Goa for a memorable experiences after reading my ramblings on my Goa Trip...

Go Go Go Go GOAAAAAAAAAAAAA.....Relish your time ..Cherish Your memories
P.S : Actually due to lack of time and proper plan we missed to cover many churches and forts, but I'm sure we had what we ought to have.

Planetarium in Bangalore and Musical fountain

Last week I visited planetarium in the Bangalore, It was good time to re-build our memories related to Planets and solar system. Many of us know the Solar system, Stars life and other interesting things in astrology. Really kids can enjoy this place, as it gives a chance to visualize what they have learned in the books.
More details you can find here http://www.taralaya.org/
Show timings and event evrey thing they are maintaing in this website for the Bangalore planetarium very well.It contains route information as well. route map

There in Bangalore planetarium(Jawaharlal Nehru planetarium) they show different shows in the SKY theater (Will be in a globe like shape inside) like

  2. Shows about Indian scientist's like Jagadeesh chandra Bose.
  3. Shows related to solar system

And in some important days like lunar eclipse or solar eclipse they arrange the telescope or other required apparatus to view those miracles with required precautions.

Along with these things there I found one interesting weigh machine which will print your wait in all planets. And the garden they are maintain is good. Along with the garden they have different simulation setup which will explain many physics concepts like Force and Mass movements simple pendulums and Sound etc .show charges are around 25 R/- per head. After this visit we immediately went to Indiragandhi Musical fountain in the energy park which is just beside this planetarium.

Auto show 2009 Bangalore-Hot bikes and cool Cars

Hot bikes and cool Cars

Never feel alone...roam all the world...reach the sky ...fly high ..these are my strong feelings till to this moment, this is the feeling which took me to Auto show 2009 happened in Bangalore palace grounds.

Venue : Palace grounds- Bangalore
Date  : 14 Nov 2009
Entrance Fee: 50 INR per head

It was really a splendid, biggest and most electrifying auto show in Bangalore as advertised. When I saw the publicity cut out I have a plan to see but I really did not expected this much bash over there.
With my friend I reached the place around at 12:15 PM, we really don't have a single clue about the programs timings there, but we are lucky enough to see the stunt show by bike riders. It was really spectacular, breathtaking and stunning stunt show. Yes for some feats many people were breathless for seconds. Though the organizers gave more publicity to the bike rider Adil the other riders also excelled undoubtedly.

These riders used re-modeled pulsar, apache, and Honda Dio vehicles. But the way they have done the wheeling is wondrous. the burn out feats and touching the ground feats are astounding. In the middle the smallest bike was shown on the track by driving. It was funny. After the stunning show there was an amazing belly dance show by two dancers which was again spectacular and breathtaking. I never such a perfect and belly dance in any movies or shows.

Immediately after this we entered into exhibition place where organizers arranged huge collection of World class vehicles under one roof. Really the the motor vehicle lovers can enjoy this fest for sure. All worlds class best vehicles under one roof. But the good part I like here is the old vehicles sorry antique cars placed beside the latest cars proved again the "old is bold".

The old car manufacturers like Beetle, jaguar, and Ford are worth watching. Along with this few Volkswagen cars were placed there and their owners names were displayed on them. The BMW cars displayed there dragged many people to just stare for long time and we can imagine the photo lovers for posing and taking snaps. The super bikes from Suzuki like Hayabusa and intruder along with Royal en field and bullet were shown there.

There are TATA,Hyundai and Mahindra stalls where they showcased their latest cars. Along with this there are few stalls which exhibited the car accessories like vacuum cleaners and GPS systems.

Among the displayed cars i remember few names of those ...skoda-fabia and octiva,Tata -Dicor,safari and Nano and Hyundai - i10,i20, Mahindra -Xylo,Scorpio,Logan,Ford,Endeavor, Over all it was a wonderful Auto show 2009.
Note: Enjoy the more photos in the slide show below.

Shortest route from Bangalore to Hogenakkal - Trip

A day trip to Hognekkal

Telugu review on this : http://manasumaatalu.blogspot.com/2009/06/bangalore-to-hogenakkal-route-bike-ride.html

Hmm it is 29th May 2009 Im some how clear in my heart after getting out of few disturbances in my life and then thought of rejuvenate my self...As I am frantically thinking about a bike ride for a longer distance since long time ; “Hogenkkal” is the place got in my mind. No second thought just googled it for more details; many blogs helped me in finding the shortest route and history about the place. I should confess myself that this place don’t need really this much browsing.Finalized the place, with great confidence on my roomies. Yes, they accepted and then thought of informing people who shows interest in bike riding. At last we became 8 people to start next day morning from Bangalore. Got all the bikes fueled and ready for ride. Though many told me about the good things about the place we truly have no speculations. After reading blogs bit confused about the routes to Hoggenakkal falls and its distance; still we strongly decided to ride that's all.

4 bikes on 4th gear …Moving ahead.

All of us (Gopal,Syed,Pradeep, Ramana, Nagaraju, Meeravali, Surendra and me)Gathered around at 7 AM at Silk board. Discussed about the route we will be riding. We finalized the best and shortest route to reach Hoggnakkal.

Bangalore - Attebelle - Mathigiri - Denkanikottai - Anchetty - Hoggenakkal (Just around 120 KM)

After reaching falls I saw my bike’s Milo-meter; it was exactly 122 KM from Koramangala.

We geared our bikes and set out to explore the real speed of our bikes.Whole route is single lane forest “ghat” road with hair pin bends and so many turns in deep ups and downs. It was really thrilling and even weather added its effects by breeze and drizzles. We really enjoyed the lush full lands both sides our bike as if we are riding our bikes in a videogame which has landscapes shown in WinXP default theme. There is no chance of breathing when we are on 90 speed and suddenly noticed the deep valley beside us.

One of our sojourns is at a bridge where we had a pleasant experience of small streams of water in between mounds and green trees. Looks like this place is untouched and hardly there are no people except one are two vehicles crossing this bridge in an hour; hence we were able to savor the silence. We walked around this place had some photo session with the help of our creative photographer Pradeep(we call him PK).

Next stop is at a place on the pathway covered with dense trees bloom many wild flowers on the road. Don’t know why all of us really like this place. We had deep breaths here and of course photo session is quite expected where ever we stopped all the day.Through out the entire route we passed few villages but saw very less people and latter we smacked our ride as the route (around 10 KM) is ot good, it is bumpy one.

When we reach the destination most of us are ravenous; so decided to have lunch before planning anything. We found a hotel named “Tamilanadu Hotel”, quickly ordered chicken along with meals. Of course; I’m a veggie that day (Saturday) so far away from famous fried fish slices and other non-veg stuff. After lunch, successful talks between our mate and the coracle people lead us towards the falls.

Hognekkal has created many disputes between Tamilanaadu state and Karnataka state, just for the reason of beautiful water resources by Kaveri River here. In a year many times this place will be in news due to this. Actually the present situation here is like there two entrances to this place one from Karnataka entrance and another is from Tamilanadu. Unknowingly our route took us to enter from Tamilanadu. Actually we can see different boatmen and different stalls in both entrances. Even boatmen classify the whole place into two parts (in which water falls) showing one big rock as Tamilandu’s and another as Karnataka’s. Our great Indian politicians are creating these sensitive issues due to regional weakness in people of this place.

Actually the coracle (Small round shaped boat made of bamboo sticks and tar sheets like any skiff) ride is the major attraction here and body herbal oil massage is the nest best here. The whole place is fully crowded and there are many kids due to the summer holidays for schools. There are enough number of small stalls and shops for eatables.

People can recollect the “Nagamani Nagamni ..”Song from “Roja” movie which was shot here while traveling in coracles. During this ride we can touch the drizzles when we go near to canyon flow from high hills. That was really a splendid experience for me. While we were enjoying this we could see dare kids jumping from top of big rocks into water just for 10 rupees. We can’t even imagine it from a normal people and there we can see the real rock climbing by those kids after jumping from the high. With a soothing music of water fall we reached island.

We frolicked in the island for around 3 hours and some of us had oil massage here then returned to see the main falls view by crossing a rope bridge. Really an amazing view it is. The falls force is so high, though we are standing very far from the falls we are able to sense the strength of it just by the hitting water droplets in the drizzles.

Then around at 6 PM we started our return ride in the same route. Don’t know why, but my sixth sense expected a rain and the same happened in less than an hour. As planned; before light failure itself we were able to cross the bumpy road. And at one stop (It’s a newly opened petrol bunk on that forest ghat road) we took shelter due to heavy rain after half an hour we started and crossed the elephant’s zone. Then again it rained cats and dogs and we took another stop for almost 2 or 3 hours we were stopped. But at that point it was just 40 to 50 KM to cover so we were least bothered and I personally enjoyed this thrilling ride in the rain. Then we reached RK Dhaba near Electronic city around at 11:30 PM and finishing dinner there reached my room exactly at 1 AM.

As a whole it was an amazing trip and a wonderful day filled with incredible beauty while on bike ride and I loved each minute of it.

Note: People going in the short route I mentioned above should be careful while going as there won’t be any service shops if your bike got any repair.

P.S: One should not miss this falls when it is heavily flooding and one should be with enough care while playing near this falls.

Trip to Talakad, Somanathpura, Shivanasamudram, Gagana Chukki, Bhara Chukki

One day trip to Talakad, Somanathpura, Shivanasamudram, Gagana Chukki, Bhara Chukki

We were around 15 members this time; almost all are looking for a trip since long time, which was Ugadi festival - holiday for us. We were in search of places to go from Bangalore. Many recommendations but these are the places which were finalized - Talakad, Somanathpura, Shivanasamudram, Gagana Chukki, Bhara Chukki. One of us booked a tempo traveler, accommodate all of us. As planned, we started around 6 AM in the morning from Koramangala. I should say a big thanks to my friend who fed us “Ugadi pachadi”. With the combination of different tastes and different persons in van our journey started.

First place we reached is Somanthpura
It was really a fantastic historical place. The sculptures and design of the temple is amazing. The polished stone on the temple attracts our eye. The designs carved on the temple walls are worth watching here.

Second place we reached is Talakad
Before reaching Talakad we visited one Siva temple which is on a hill. Not sure what is the village name? But it is on the opposite bank of “Jaladhama” resort.
This is a historical place with a small bay of Kaveri river. Though we can’t enjoy this place with much sceneries and authentic services we can really enjoy the river bath if water was there. We can go for a raft ride with very littlie amount. We won’t find any Hi-Fi hotels or restaurants here, so all we need to do is to depend on the small hotels there. With our request they will cook non-veg as well immediately and serve us. Though it was not so great we had some food. Then we visited the temples buried under sand. Got to know some littile history with our guide (Mariyamma). Actually with out guide itself we can get more details, as I feel guide is not at all required. We wasted most of our time here other wise we could have covered many other places.

Then we had been to Bhara chukki water falls, it’s really good. Some of us enjoyed water splashes here. By that time slowly darkness came into pictures so we quickly moved to Gagana chukki falls and had glance of it. On the way, we saw “Sivana samudra” electricity generation plant. Reached Bangalore by 10:30 PM.Due to heavy sun we slept deeply that day.I love visiting Archeological places so I really enjoyed this trip.
Thanks to everyone : Ramana,Surendra,Kishore,Ravi teja, Nataraj(Teja's uncle), Anand,Ravi,PK, Chandu etc.

Some thing from other web pages about this places :
·          Somnathpura : (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somanathapura)
Somanathapura (also known as Somnathpur) is a town located 30 km from Mysore city in Mysore district, Karnataka, India. Somanathapura is famous for the Chennakesava Temple (also called Kesava or Keshavatemple) built by Soma, a dandanayaka (commander) in 1268 CE under Hoysala king Narasimha III, when the Hoysalas were the major power in South India. The Keshava temple is one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture and is in a very well preserved condition. The temple is conservated by Archeological Survey of India under the category of protected heritage sites
·          Talakad : (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talakad)
Talakad(also known as Talakadu) (Kannada: ತಲಕಾಡು) is a town on the left bank of the Kaveri river at a spot where the river makes a sharp bend. It is 45 km from Mysore and 185 km from Bangalore in Karnataka, India. A historic site, Talakad once had over 30 temples that today are buried in sand. Now it is a scenic and spiritual pilgrimagecenter.[1] Here the eastward flowing Kaveri river changes course and seems magnificently vast as here the sand on its banks spreads over a wide area.[2]
·          Shivanasamudram : (http://wikitravel.org/en/Shivanasamudram)
Shivanasamudra is the location of a HydroElectric project, but more pertinently it is also home to a few lovely water falls. It is located in Karnataka.Shivana Samudra Falls on the Cauvery River near Mysore .The Shivanasamudra falls are formed on the Cauvery river. A little distance before the falls, the river splits into two, forming an island. The two streams falls down to the same point and flows downstream. The two falls are called
  • Gagana Chukki (90 metres) (Waterfalls) :
  • Bhara Chukki (69 metres) (Waterfalls) :
The two falls are really majestic in the monsoon season. Shivanasamudra is probably the largest waterfall in the region after Jog Falls. The place is also credited for hosting the first hydroelectric project in India. Here, Kaveri splits into two, falls into a valley in two separate places called Gaganachukki and Bharachukki and re-unites downstream. A good lot of water falls down from both the waterfalls. Gaganachukki especially is a steep fall where water gushes down with great velocity. The two waterfalls are around a 15-minute drive apart and make beautiful picnic locations.
Some thing about place:
The eastern falls - Bhara Chukki

After getting down the bus at Shivasamudram, which is popularly called Bluff, we walked along the banks of Cauvery for two km through green fields interposed hither and thither with multitudes of young trees before we approached the waterfall.

From the watchtower, one can view the falls where the river plunges downward in a wonderful cascade, sending up dense clouds of mist, presenting a breathtaking scene. We sat on one of the stone benches overlooking the falls which plunges to a depth of 300-350 ft. Shivasamudram falls is the second biggest water falls in India.
Cauvery, called the Ganga of the South, takes its birth at Talacauvery in western ghats in Kodagu district and traverses through Hassan, Mysore, Mandya and Bangalore districts, joining with rivers Harangi, Hemavathi, Lakshmana Thirtha and Kapila. Before coursing into Tamilnadu, it leaves behind many resplendent waterfalls in its course, among which Shivasamudram falls is an important one.
The western falls - Gagana Chukki

At Shivasamudram, the river branches into two, creating the second largest island in its course. There are a group of ancient temples situated in this island. It is believed that very long ago there was a village in this island. Each branch of the river at Shivasamudram has a separate falls - the western falls known as Gagana Chukki and the eastern falls, Bhara Chukki.

The 90-metre falls on the river rushing through the huge boulders attract the tourists during July-August when the river Kabini also floods along with Cauvery.
Bhara Chukki lies a km or so away from Gagana Chukki. On the way to Bhara Chukki, we visited an ancient dargah situated along the bank, which attracts hundreds of Muslims everyday to visit and worship. After a few yards of walk, we found Bhara Chukki falls, raising a dense mist to a height of about 300 ft. Multitudes of tourists, new couples and youngsters come here to see the natural beauty in its magnificent glory. Compared to Gagana Chukki, Bhara Chukki wears a more serene look, owing to the steady sheet of water falling without many boulders hindering its course downward. Both Gagana Chukki and Bhara Chukki are a paradise for the nature lovers.
After the turbulent fall, the river traverses in a quite manner through a thick green valley at a depth of about 400 feet towards the east.
Shivasamudram is also famous for its hydro power station which was started in 1902 by Sheshadri Ayyar, a dewan of Mysore. This is said to be the first hydro power station in Asia and from here power was supplied to Bangalore -- the first city to get power in India - in 1906 and then to Kolar Gold Fields and Mysore.
In the hydro station, power is produced by running the water through a pipe having sufficiently larger diameter and kept at an inclined position from a height of 350 ft. Through a turbine, the hydraulic force of water is transmitted to an alternator which generates electric power.
There was a trolley for the visitors to see the working of the hydro station. But now, unfortunately, those who want to go for a trolley ride, return with disappointment. It is because the use of trolley was stopped six years ago when a militant group vowed that it will blow up the hydro station. If the authorities commence the trolley ride again, it will attract more visitors.
Shivasamudram lies in its unpolluted ambience which adds beauty to the place. Nearby the falls, there are no shops, bars and restaurants or any other kind of disturbance. However, it needs basic facilities such as water, shelter and toilet. Better facilities will no doubt attrabct more tourists.
